Amazon Kinesis Data Streams Pricing Calculator
Estimate Amazon Kinesis Data Streams costs for Provisioned, On-Demand Standard, and On-Demand Advantage capacity using current regional AWS prices.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which Kinesis Data Streams capacity modes are included?
The calculator covers Provisioned, On-Demand Standard, and On-Demand Advantage. Each mode uses its own official regional price dimensions and only shows charges that apply to the selected workload.
How are Kinesis writes rounded for billing?
On-demand data ingestion rounds every record up to the next 1 KiB. Provisioned mode rounds every record up to the next 25 KiB PUT payload unit. Inputs use binary KiB, so 1,000 KiB uses 40 payload units while 1 MiB (1,024 KiB) uses 41. Retrieval volume uses the actual payload size.
How does On-Demand Advantage shortfall work?
Advantage applies separate 25 MiB/s ingestion and retrieval minimums at the account-and-Region level. AWS requires the mode to remain enabled for at least 24 hours, so shorter modeled activations are billed for 24 hours. The calculator prices actual use and each shortfall separately.
Where do the Kinesis prices come from?
Regional rates are generated from the official AmazonKinesis AWS Price List offer and checked against the AWS pricing page. Missing upstream rates stay unavailable instead of falling back to another Region.
