Fargate vs Lambda Pricing Calculator - Compare Serverless Costs

Compare AWS ECS Fargate and Lambda costs with explicit workload configurations, regional pricing, Graviton rates, and Compute Savings Plans.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this calculator auto-size Fargate from Lambda traffic?

No. You configure both runtimes directly. A Lambda invocation does not map cleanly to a fixed slice of Fargate capacity because a container can handle a different number of concurrent requests based on the application and scaling policy. Use load test data to set a realistic Fargate task count.

Which Fargate and Lambda costs are included?

The Fargate estimate includes Linux task vCPU, memory, and billable ephemeral storage. The Lambda estimate includes function requests, execution duration, and billable ephemeral storage. It does not include load balancers, public IPv4 addresses, CloudWatch Logs, data transfer, or other AWS services called by the workload.

Can I compare Compute Savings Plans?

Yes. Select a 1-year or 3-year Compute Savings Plan to apply the published regional rates to eligible Fargate compute and Lambda duration. Lambda request charges and billable storage stay outside the discount. If AWS does not publish a selected regional rate, the calculator marks the estimate unavailable.

Where can I model each service in more detail?

Use the dedicated Fargate calculator for Windows tasks and task-level pricing options. Use the Lambda calculator for Provisioned Concurrency and data transfer.

CloudBurn

Catch AWS cost mistakes before they ship.

Use the calculator for quick estimates, then use CloudBurn when you need a deterministic cost review workflow. Run scan against Terraform and CloudFormation before deploy, then run discover against live AWS to find the waste that is already burning.
