How accurate is this AWS IoT Core pricing calculator?

This calculator uses official AWS IoT Core pricing data from the AWS public pricing API. It covers the core billable families: connectivity, MQTT and HTTP messaging, Device Shadow and Registry operations, and Rules Engine usage. It does not estimate LoRaWAN, Sidewalk, Device Location, or downstream AWS service costs.

How are IoT Core messages metered?

AWS IoT Core meters MQTT and HTTP messages in 5 KB increments. An 8 KB message counts as two metered messages. Basic Ingest reserved-topic messages are excluded from MQTT and HTTP messaging charges, so this calculator focuses on billable published and delivered messaging volume.

What is included in the AWS IoT Core Free Tier?

New AWS accounts receive monthly free tier usage for IoT Core connection minutes, messages, Device Shadow or Registry operations, and Rules Engine rules and actions during the first 12 months. The calculator can apply those allowances to show the remaining billable usage.
