AWS Cost Explorer Pricing Calculator - API Request and Hourly Granularity Costs

AWS Cost Explorer pricing calculator for Cost Explorer API requests and hourly granularity usage records. Estimate primary billing view requests, custom billing view source charges, and hourly data charges.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does AWS Cost Explorer charge for?

AWS Cost Explorer has two paid dimensions on the pricing page: API requests and hourly granularity. API requests using the primary billing view are charged per request. Requests using custom billing views are charged per source included in the custom billing view.

How are hourly granularity usage records estimated?

AWS bills hourly granularity daily based on the hosted usage records for the previous 14 days. This calculator asks for hourly usage records generated per day, multiplies that by the 14-day lookback window, and then applies the daily per-record rate for the number of days enabled in the month.

How do custom billing view sources affect API request cost?

AWS prices custom billing view API requests per source. A request through a custom billing view with five sources costs five times the per-source request rate.

CloudBurn

Catch AWS cost mistakes before they ship.

Use the calculator for quick estimates, then use CloudBurn when you need a deterministic cost review workflow. Run scan against Terraform and CloudFormation before deploy, then run discover against live AWS to find the waste that is already burning.
