Resource Efficiency covers resources you keep but could run for less: oversized or low-utilization instances, x86 workloads that could move to Graviton, previous-generation instance and volume types, log groups without retention, and S3 buckets and ECR repositories without lifecycle rules. It is one of four areas of a Cost Optimization scan, and the same scan refreshes all four. Open Resource Efficiency under Cost optimization, choose an AWS account, and run a scan or review its latest snapshot; Run a scan covers plans, readiness, and snapshot history.
What it checks
Resource Efficiency runs 38 checks. Inventory checks cover the connection's configured Region; the account-wide ones read CloudFront, Route 53, and Cost Optimization Hub.

Three checks read Cost Optimization Hub, and Lambda Function Memory Overprovisioned reads AWS Compute Optimizer. Compute Optimizer only recommends memory for a Lambda function with at least 50 invocations in the last 14 days. When a source is not set up, its checks report missing evidence and the rest run as usual. See data sources.
Review the findings
The summary shows Findings, Checks, and the Snapshot outcome. Open a finding for its Financial evidence: the current cost and the potential savings, when AWS or CloudBurn has that evidence. An unknown amount stays unknown rather than counting as zero.
A finding's guidance is labelled Read-only: Configuration guidance. These findings carry no example commands: apply the change through your own tooling, such as your Terraform or CloudFormation, so the next deploy does not undo it. Exports add a Recommended action column. See Export findings.
Run it yourself
Every check above is an open-source rule that runs in discovery mode, so you can run it against your own account with cloudburn discover. Platform runs the same rules through the role you deployed and keeps snapshot history for your workspace.
